Konya Metropolitan Municipality Increased the Number of Bicycle Repair Stations

Konya Metropolitan Municipality increased the number of bicycle repair stations to 40 in Konya, which is the city with the longest bicycle path network and the highest number of bicycle users in Turkey with 595 kilometers. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said, ‘Our repair stations consist of repair sets and air pumps. These stations also have tools that can be used to repair the vehicles of our disabled citizens. “We also placed various ready-to-use tools for bicycle repair in the Bicycle Tram, which is an example for Turkey,” he said.

The repair stations established by Konya Metropolitan Municipality to repair bicycles provide great convenience to bicycle users.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they have carried out many studies to encourage the use of bicycles in Konya, which is the city with the longest bicycle path network in Turkey with 595 kilometers and the highest number of bicycle users, and that bicycle repair stations installed in various places are one of them.

Stating that they have carried out the maintenance of the existing bicycle repair stations in the city center and increased the number of repair stations to 40 by adding new ones, Mayor Altay said, “Our repair stations consist of repair sets and air pumps that allow bicycle users to intervene in malfunctions that may occur in their bicycles while driving. In addition, these stations also have tools with which our disabled citizens can repair their vehicles and strollers.”

BICYCLE MAINTENANCE CAN BE DONE DURING TRAVEL ON THE TRAM

Noting that the points where bicycle repair stations were installed were determined by using the Bicycle Master Plan data, which they implemented for the first time in Turkey together with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mayor Altay said, “Upon the request of our citizens, we placed these repair sets in the Bicycle Tram, which is an example for Turkey. Thus, our citizens who use the Bicycle Tram have the opportunity to maintain their bicycles during their travels.”

Bicycle users can see the locations of bicycle repair stations on the Smart Bicycle Transportation System (ABUS) included in the Konya Smart Transportation Assistant mobile application.
